10 Books That Have Stayed With Me

I've seen these lists on Facebook and such, but I've become staunchly against writing a Facebook status longer than three lines. But I'm obsessed with lists and books, so I really couldn't resist. Hence, my list is appearing on the blog. I should tell you that I stressed and thought a lot about these books. It's a pretty eclectic list but here it is. I present 10 books that have stayed with me.

1. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
2. Race and Reunion by David Blight
3. Centuries of Childhood by Phillippe Aries (even though he's totally wrong)
4. Culture and Redemption: Religion, the Secular, and American Literature by Jon Pahl
5. Night by Elie Wiesel
6. The Color of Water by James McBride
7. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
8. Home: My Early Years by Julie Andrews
9. Antonia Lively Breaks the Silence by David Samuel Levinson
10. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle

Honorable Mentions go to Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen), Animal Farm (George Orwell), Measure for Measure (William Shakespeare), The Art Spirit (Robert Henri), Little Women (Louisa May Alcott), This Republic of Suffering (Drew Gilpin Faust), and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (JK Rowling).
