Historian Problems

When you have a really interesting piece of information, but it doesn't contribute to your paper.

When you find an awesome research project when you're already halfway through a paper.

When you go in to do your research and the archivist is terrifying.

When you have to distill an entire semesters worth of research into a 500-word abstract.

When you get really excited about a house or a tombstone or a dress and people roll their eyes.

When people assume that since you study history, you obviously must be an expert of every event to ever have occurred in all of human existence.

When previous scholars are not thorough in their footnotes.

When you know what source you need but you just can't find it.

And, perhaps most fitting for my life right now, when you struggle to put into words all of the ideas and conclusions you've spent weeks forming.
